Admedia Communications partnered with Oxfam in Kenya to highlight the impact of the Australian Government-funded DFAT project, an undertaking aimed at aiding drought-affected communities in Turkana County to build resilient livelihoods, grow nutritious food and protect their health.
Delivered with local partner TUPADO, the project strengthens community-led enterprises through training and grants, while improving nutrition, water access and sanitation at village level. Results include a community bakery that has become a source of income and dignity, a women’s farm fed by a new water kiosk, and six villages certified Open Defecation Free, reaching 210 households.
To bring this progress to life, Admedia produced a variety of impact stories including high-quality photographs, written human interest stories, and carefully cocreated documentaries that shared the spotlight between the project’s outputs and the participants who made them happen. The team captured the investments Oxfam made, from community farms to handwashing stations, along with the village-based savings model that holds community groups together. At the center were the participants themselves, who shared how the project has restored their dignity, confidence and sense of control over their future. Admedia approached the work the way it does every story: with patience, respect and the human touch.

For Admedia, the assignment was a chance to put real people in Kenya’s arid areas in front of the lens and let their stories lead. In Turkana those stories carry a clear message about what communities can achieve when they are given the tools and the trust to shape their own future.
