How do you close a major project without losing its momentum? BIODEV2030 Kenya answered with a legacy workshop built around action.
On 14 and 15 May 2026, IUCN and the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry convened the BIODEV2030 Kenya Legacy Workshop at the Sarova Stanley Hotel in Nairobi. The event marked the end of the project and charted a path for biodiversity mainstreaming in Kenya.
More than 50 stakeholders took part, from national and county governments, civil society, indigenous peoples, youth networks, the private sector, financial institutions, academia and development partners.

What the workshop set out to do
The workshop consolidated Phase 2 outcomes, advanced the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and embedded biodiversity priorities in sectors such as horticulture, livestock and agroforestry. It included focused discussion on the Draft Charcoal Regulations 2025.
Our role
Admedia led the full facilitation. We refined the agenda and built a detailed facilitation plan with interactive materials. On site, we facilitated every plenary, breakout and group session to keep the dialogue inclusive and focused on results. Our team documented the workshop through photography and video, then produced a full report and a highlight film.
The outcome
Stakeholders identified new financing opportunities for landscape-level investment and developed a sustainability roadmap with clear recommendations for policy uptake and scaling.
