The race subbed ‘Running for water catchment conservation’ seeks to conserve Sasumua Dam to ensure availability of water to the local community. Nairobi City Water and Sewage Company corporate affairs manager, Mbaruku Vyakweli, said the initiative is targeted towards improving the dam and saving enough water for use by the local community and beyond. Vyakweli said they want to stage the event annually.
Those expected to grace the event today are Athletic Kenya president Isaiah Kiplagat, Nyandarua County Governor Daniel Waithaka, Nairobi Water chairman, Peter Kuguru, Nairobi Water managing director Phillip Gichuki, Ndereba and Wanyoike.
