Admedia Communications teamed up with UNHCR to showcase how donor-funded investments are reinforcing government-run services for refugees and host communities in Kakuma and Lodwar, Turkana County.
Backed by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Novo Nordisk Foundation and the Grundfos Foundation, the investments span education, mental health psycho-social support, chronic illness care, health workforce training, and water and sanitation. On the ground, that means new classrooms and menstrual hygiene support that keep girls in school, specialist visits reaching local clinics, structured NCD care, nursing scholarships and fresh learning facilities at KMTC Lodwar, and water systems and handwashing stations in health facilities.
Admedia made six films around the people at the centre of it all: refugee and host-community members, nurses and community health promoters, nursing students preparing to become the health workers their region needs, and county and UNHCR leaders steering the transition to locally owned systems culminating in a flagship Hero film bringing it all together.

Throughout, the lens stayed on inclusion, access and dignity, long-term sustainability and systemic impact.
