Airtel is one of the biggest telecommunications companies around the world and in Kenya. However, the company faces stiff competition from other equally big players in the Kenyan market including Safaricom and Telkom.
One of the most contested areas by the telecommunications companies in Kenya is the mobile money which is currently used by more than 40million Kenyans, transacting an estimated Kshs.3.98 trillion ($38.5 billion) in 2018 alone according to a report which was released that year by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
Airtel’s goal is to expand its market share by availing Airtel Money services to more people in all the 47 counties in the country.
The Challenge
How do you deal with a competitor who has the biggest mobile money market share in Kenya and how do you ensure penetration of your services in all parts of the country? Simple, you hire the same company that was used by your competitor to install all their mobile money LED signage all over the country since they already have an understanding of the market and can advise better on where to start and the way forward.
At the start of 2018, Airtel Kenya entrusted Admedia Communications Ltd with the installation and branding of more than 3000 Airtel Money outlets in the country.
The Solution
Admedia came up with a very friendly budget for our client for each shop installation and branding. The team at Admedia mapped out all the areas that the installations and branding were going to happen and made sure that we got the best materials from the local suppliers in each region at the best bargain. The design team came up with the actual concepts that were going to be used for all the shops to attain that perfect look in terms of branding. We reached out to the best technicians in each of the regions that the shops were going to be installed, took them through the branding guidelines and had teams in all the regions to ensure that the work that was being done in the ground was a reflection of what was on paper.
Results
By the end of 2019, we had installed more than 300 shops in more than 20 counties and we continue to walk with Airtel Kenya in their journey to expand Airtel Money Services in the country.
