2020 was a year that was marred by the Covid-19 pandemic which affected most businesses. During these trying times, Co-operative Bank had their customers at heart and in mind and designed a virtual challenge dubbed Akili Kali Challenge so as to develop innovations to support thousands of Co-operative members earning a living, saving, and investing through the Co-operative movement. The aim of the Akili Kali Innovation Challenge, which was supported by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), was to enable Co-op Bank to identify and collaborate with passionate innovators in building the next generation of financial solutions that are beneficial to the Co-operative Movement and its membership of over 20 million Kenyans.
